Yes! September and January auditions are strongly encouraged for anyone age 5 and up who wants to try out for our MINI, JR, VARSITY or YOUNG LGNDS teams. Auditions are an excellent opportunity to immerse your child in the dance experience. All levels are welcome - from first-time beginners to advanced. This is an opportunity to learn and perform a piece of choreography in a group setting. Auditions are the only opportunity your child will have to be placed based on their skill and age. This is not a “make it or your out” type of audition. Everyone has a place at LGNDS. If your child does not attend auditions, they will be placed based on age alone.

Auditions are a 2-day event.

Day 1 is learning the choreography and listening to what the judges are looking for.

Day 2 is the actual audition. This is where you have the opportunity to show what you have learned and to demonstrate how you have practiced at home.

Audition results are announced within a day or two of auditions.

Audition Fee - $20. September audition fees are waived for current LGNDS Kids/Teens Program Members with up to date tuition paid through August.

The Kids/Teens Program provides students with an environment for dance education. The same rules apply as a traditional classroom setting (respect for others, raising hands for questions, hands to ourselves, etc.). Students will be asked to come prepared and ready to learn. Any disruptions or outbursts will be reported to parents/guardians. Continued disruptions are subject to dismissal from the program and any program fees shall be forfeited.

If you are a new to LGNDS and looking to join a team, your child should audition according to their age group.

Current students should audition according to the team that they were last part of. VARSITY TEAM members should audition with JR LGNDS.

LGNDS Kids/Teens Program is a year-round educational dance program. Auditions are held in the Summer/Fall and Winter with an opportunity to move into more advanced teams.

TINY LGNDS (ages 3-6) meet Tue/Thu 5:15-6:15 pm

MINI LGNDs (ages 7-9) meet Mon/Wed 6:30-7:30 pm

JR LGNDS (ages 10-13) meet Tue/Thu 6:30-7:30 pm

YOUNG LGNDS (ages 14-17) meet Mon/Wed 7:30-8:30pm

LGNDS VARSITY (ages 8-13 by audition only) meet Tue/Thu 7:30-8:30 pm

TINY LGNDS = $165/month

MINI LGNDS = $175/month

JR LGNDS = $175/month

YOUNG LGNDS = $195/month

LGNDS VARSITY = $195/month

There is an annual $20 registration fee for all students

Audition fees are waived for current LGNDS Kids/Teens Program members

Students are placed on teams based on audition. If a student does not audition, then placement will be based on age at the time the student signs up for classes. Students are only moved up based on their age at the time of Summer/Fall auditions.

LGNDS may also offer a Winter audition for those who wish to move up to the next team or try out for any of LGNDS competiton teams.

The Kids/Teens is tuition based. If your child is a new student and wants to try out the program, your child may drop in for up to 2 classes as a trial basis ($20 per class). After 2 classes, your child will be required to commit to the full tuition-based program.

The LGNDS Kids/Teens Program is a monthly tuition based program. Once your child commits, we will require a credit card on file that will automatically be charged on a monthly basis (5th of every month). The entire month is paid whether or not your child chooses to attend all classes and includes studio breaks.

Once your child commits to the program, parents will be required to join BAND (https://band.us/en). This is a free communication app where we post practice videos and important information. BAND may be downloaded from the App store for free.

LGNDS Kids/Teens program is an age and skill appropriate dance education program.

TINY LGNDS (age 3-6) focuses on moving to music and incorporates basic hip hop movement in an encouraging environment with games to make learning dance easy and fun.

MINI and JR LGNDS learn introductory and beginner level instruction for signature hip hop moves and choreography. Some things they will learn: lite feet, popping, locking, krump, and turfing.

YOUNG LGNDS will expand dance experience from beginner/intermediate to advanced hip hop dance concepts. This is a competition team that JR or VARSITY members may audition for.

LGNDS VARSITY is an audition-only competition team (age 8-13)

LGNDS VARSITY is a National Championship Dance Team and an advanced part of the Kids/Teens Program. LGNDS VARSITY works on advanced choreography concepts and emphasize stage presence, synchronized movement, and competition preparedness. All those age 7 and up are welcome to audition for LGNDS VARSITY. Current VARSITY members must re-audition to hold their place on the team each Summer/Fall

Please make sure your child is wearing loose fitting clothes and comfortable shoes that they can move around and dance in.

Dance is an intensive style workout. Please make sure your child brings a filled water bottle. Alternatively, we have a vending machine stocked with bottled water for purchase if your child forgets to bring their own.

LGNDS Show is an annual production of LGNDS Studios talent. LGNDS Show offers a major theme and several dance performances. Our very first theater show was hosted at De Anza High School Theater on May 19, 2024 and received a rave review and publication in the Contra Costa Times.

LGNDS Studios may be invited to participate in community events. Participation and attendance is at the Studio Director’s discretion. Participation by students is always encouraged, but not required. We will never force a child to perform who is not ready.

Each student will be assessed a Uniform Fee (TBD) and will be provided one uniform set that to be worn to all performances. Kids/Teens members are also expected to wear ALL WHITE sneakers (any brand).

A costume fee is also assessed in the spring and costs are provided up front, in preparation for LGNDS Show.

VARSITY may be required to purchase more specific footwear or may incur additional costume fees, depending on specific themes.

Yes! LGNDS Studios is equipped with TV monitors for each of the studios. Parents/guardians are not allowed inside the studios during practice. The Studio Director reserves the right to turn TV monitors off for closed rehearsals and auditions.

Yes! We offer sibling discounts. It is full price for the oldest child and then a 10% discount for each additional child.

You can sign up online or visit the LGNDS Studios front desk. We accept new students all year with exception of a blackout period from April to June, while we rehearse for LGNDS annual show.
